"Mmhm."
Born on Khar'shan to slave parents, Lairk was already considered a lost cause. His parents, figuring they could buy their way out of slavery with enough money, sold him at a very young age before they got overly attached. The man who bought him was a slaver and pirate who frequented the Terminus Systems and even Council Space, when he was feeling brave. Lairk acted as a ship's hand while he grew up, along with a group of boys around the same age. The pirate captain claimed that he would raise them as the best scourge to the humans the galaxy had ever seen; Lairk wasn't so sure, having no real preconceived ideas of what the humans had done to his people. A hierarchy was quickly established among the boys on the ship, with Lairk find himself in the worst possible position - right in the middle. With the boys below him wanting to move up and the ones older and above simply beating him for fun, he developed a hyper awareness and into a tough fighter, along with resentment toward the Captain of the ship. It was only on the stops on Khar'shan that Lairk truly enjoyed himself.
His captain, as it turned out, worked specifically for a very rich and influential Batarian in the top castes of the Hegemony. Lairk got along well with the man's daughter, too well for some people's taste. He was still regarded as being at the bottom of the ladder, with marriage being one of the few ways up. It was this fact that gave Lairk his idea for escape - as he was in his mid-teens, he waited for a stop on Khar'shan. Without even a hint of remorse, he killed his Captain in his sleep and begged the man's daughter, the only one he truly cared about or who had shown him affection, to marry him. If not for love, then at least for protection. She hesitantly agreed, tying Lairk to Khar'shan and its upper echelons - along with making him untouchable for the killing of someone so much farther down.
Lairk took the name Sen'taran from his wife and her house, and was considered a member of the family, much to his father-in-law's chagrin. Deciding that he should at least make himself useful with his lack of applicable skills, he was sent to the military, and due to his status, was immediately drafted to SIU. He was given the same brutal training as all the others, with only an 18% survival rate for the training of the special forces group. SIU officers picked him out once they found out about his lack of education - they weren't presented many opportunities to build soldiers from the ground up. He was given an intense education regimen along with his training; taught not only to be a deadly combatant, but an intentional plague on Council races. He was educated on their languages, cultures, religions and even popular past-times. Though he took well to his instruction, he didn't really understand the reasons for it.
Sen'taran's operations within the SIU once he became a full operative and commissioned officer are generally classified and unknown - it is assumed he took part in raids across the galaxy against the Council and even civilian populations in Black Ops, the Batarian Hegemony fully denying any association or involvement with him and his team. He quickly ascended the ranks, reaching the position of Staff Commander and even serving as a training officer back on Khar'shan for a brief period. It was during this time that he and his wife had their son, Eergok. However, Lairk's loyalty and patriotism wavered the more that he did. The operations and attacks seemed pointless, even spiteful. He grew to think that the killing he was doing served no real purpose, and only served to make the leaders of the Hegemony feel accomplished while soldiers died and their existence was erased from record.
Lairk's grievances came to a head when his superiors ordered him to attack yet another colony - one he knew had no significance or strategic value. Being already outside of Batarian space, Lairk simply opted to desert. His second in command and his fellows were not sympathetic to his ideas, attempting to kill him on the spot. Lairk killed two and wounded another of his men before he escaped, disappearing into the Terminus Systems. He was familiar enough to find his way around, and quickly found himself on Omega, an easy place to disappear. Having no qualms about species much, he decided that joining up with a mercenary band would be his best bet - deciding on the Blue Suns, one of the first Batarians in the outfit.
With the Blue Suns being mainly Human, Lairk was under close scrutiny by Zaeed Massani, the Blue Suns' co-founder. Wanting to make sure he was the real deal, Massani and Sen'taran often convened, with Lairk learning much from the veteran mercenary. However, his now distrustful nature got the better of him and he decided he was better off on his own, believing that Zaeed and his partner, Vido Santiago would eventually betray him or sell him out if they found out about the Hegemony's bounty on his head. He began work as an independent contractor, and his assassination of a Turian General and his infamous fight against a Turian Blackwatch member caught the attention of many clients in the Terminus.
One of these clients was Aria T'Loak, the proclaimed Queen of Omega. Working under contract for Aria for dozens of jobs, Lairk became a feared figure on Omega and the space around it, known for being able to kill in an undetected, smooth way or to make things more obvious and messy, depending on the request. He continues his work in the Terminus, released from his contract and working independently once again.
