"Explore uncharted worlds and fight dangerous foes as ace pilot Jimmy Hyperdrive, on a perilous quest to save the beautiful Princess Shala from the nefarious clutches of his arch nemesis, the Pirate King Zarboni. Can you complete your mission and save the galaxy from Zarboni and his pirate goons?"
"The fate of the galaxy is in your hands!"
Q: What is Kessel Quest?
A: Kessel Quest is an old arcade machine playable from within Jabek's Diner. The game is rumored to be impossible to beat, as it hasn't been beaten by anyone on Taris for over two decades. Imagine an RPG like King's Quest or Legend of Zelda, but with the (occasionally unfair) difficulty of Space Ace or Castlevania. When playing this game ICly, remember that the game is ridiculously hard which is partly due to broken mechanics, and plays in a side-scroller fashion with your character wielding a blaster.
Q: How do I play this?
A: There are nine levels in Kessel Quest. Each level requires you to oocly roll above 50, out of a 100, to determine if you've won or not. If you roll below 50, you lose one life. You lose three lives, and then the game is over, and you must start from the beginning.
The final boss is after the nine levels. Because it has five stages, it requires you to also roll above 50 for those five stages. You get as many remaining lives as you currently have.
Roleplay is highly encouraged between and for rolls. If you don't rp it and just roll through the entire thing, it'll be a massive bummer and just kinda boring to watch
It's highly recommended that you play this while people are on! Not only do people get to watch you play and cheer you on, but if you win, I can guarantee the people watching will go absolutely fucking bonkers.
It is also highly recommended that you play this while Pinkie or a diner worker are on! This way, we can GM some stuff for you, add modifiers where needed, and help you with other game-related stuff. You're more than welcome to play when nobody's around, but you may miss out on some good RP if you decide to play alone!
Q: What are the levels? Are there bosses? What's the lore?
A: Because I don't want to bog people don't with shittons of lore they absolutely must follow, I'm fine with it being pretty up in the air. The story is generic- literally all you need to know is the blurb at the top. There's nothing deep about the game, it's about as impactful as an early Mario game. The environments in each level aren't anything crazy or noteworthy- the only difference between levels is difficulty and their number.
There's only one boss, the final boss at the end of the game. Everything else is generic enemy fighting, though you're certainly welcome to say there's certain enemies in the game, such as ones that are tougher to beat or ones that have a second form if you kill them. Go nuts with the enemies and use your imagination! Just try to be vaguely reasonable with them.
